Merov Linden has integrated Snowstorm Second Life Viewer with Kinect.

This is great news for virtual worlds.   Every since I first saw Project Natal (Kinect) I have been fascinated by the face recognition and the ability of the camera to recognize movements.  Linden Lab engineer, Merov Linden (Phillippe Bossut, who once headed Project Natal - now known as Kinect), has been able to integrate Snowstorm Second Life Viewer with Kinect.

EA Sports launches its latest Social Game

This is the third Facebook game produced by EA Sports over the past year.  The game uses Unity 3D graphics that represent Real Life Golf Courses such as Pebble Beach Golf Links, St. Andrews, TPC Sawgrass, Wolf Creed, Banff Springs and a fantasy course called Emerald Dragon.  Players tackle 3-hole challenges with your performances matched against your Facebook Friends.

Control your 3D application with Kinect

I first fell in love with Kinect when it was first introduce at E3 in 2009 as Project Natal.  It has been available since late November under the name of Xbox Kinect.  With a fondness for virtual worlds, Milo and Kate is what first captured my attention.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPIbGnBQcJY

The Second Life economy continues to be steady, with nearly all key measures staying within a narrow range of just a few percentage points up or down over the last year. Edmonton Commerce is now in Second Life

The City of Edmonton has launched itself in Second Life.  The island includes many landmarks for avatars to visit along with city businesses.  The city's Chief Information Officer announced on Thursday October 21st that it was an excellent tool for tourism and economic development.

There are video screens and objects that link to websites.  NAIT has already entered Second Life with a virtual campus for students allowing groups to link and work together real time.

Interesting that 350 million of these accounts were created in the past 6 months by 10 - 15 year old gamers.

Study Says Virtual World Accounts Number 1 Billion

Over one billion accounts have been created for virtual worlds, says a new report.

According to virtual-world strategy group KZero, nearly 350 million of those accounts were created in the last six months. 10- to 15-year-old gamers dominated the virtual world space, holding 468 million of these accounts in games like Club Penguin.

The Second Life economy kicked off 2010 with strength in many key indicators in Q1.
