Facebook is hiring for the recently created position Head of Game Partnership

Facebook is hiring a Head of Game Partnership.  This role calls for someone who can lead a team for the social network's game operations

Facebook has been, thusfar focused on growing its social network of 500 million users.  Unless you are one of the memebers who have friends on your list who are dedicated to playing Facebook games, you would never know that it is operating one of the biggest game platforms in the world.

Games are a huge part of Facebook's business but it isn't organized like other game platforms like Nintendo and Microsoft.  It is estimated that Facebook probably has more users gamers than most of the gaming companies, more than 200 million people play games on Facebook every month.

The largest app on Facebook is FarmVille, created by Zynga, which is Facebook's largest partner.  Since I am not a gamer I have most of the game apps hidden and just as soon as I think I have them all on "hide", there are new games that pop up.  In the beginning I was annoyed by the invitations for cows and pigs but when a friend told me that she plays every day with her grandkids who live in another city, I quickly changed my mind on the value of the gaming apps.

Facebook is taking the necessary steps to invest in their team and the product to make their platform a great environment for both game developers and gamers, which is a step in the right direction.  Since Facebook is evolving it will be interesting to see how the platform develops.
